The LeeArthur Center for Education Programs (TLCE) prepare children for higher education through developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities. We believe that kids learn best through hands-on investigations. Our Programs foster the development of the “whole child” and enriches the lives of students through unique cross-disciplinary educational experiences. Students learn while having fun!
Girls Code B.L.U.E.
(2 & 4th Saturday)
Our goal is to help young women explore and develop an interest in computer science fields. We support the President’s Initiative to help every student in America’s public schools learn Computer Science (CS), especially girls and underrepresented students of color.
Goal 1: Increase participants' competency in and mastery of computer science knowledge and skills.
Goal 2: Increase the number of girls interested in selecting computer science courses in high school and college.
Goal 3: Increase the number of girls interested in pursuing computer science careers.
Code B.L.U.E. After School
(Available at schools across the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex)
A program leader meets a club of girls weekly for an hour of hands-on, informal computer science after school programs—aligned with state and national standards—at each school.
Each session begins with an icebreaker, followed by 1 to 2 “unplugged” activities. At the end of each session, girls reflect on their experiences, share each team’s different findings, and what they have learned and how that relates to different computer science careers.
Activities build on each other as the girls explore a single topic over the course of the semester. Examples include coding, creating Apps, and video game development.
Showcases of activities and lessons are held at the end of each semester.
Code Blue After School is $195 per Semester. Help a girl join Code B.L.U.E., donate today!
